We host a lot of resellers here at Allanux Web

Reseller hosting lets you start your own web hosting company without buying servers or hiring a systems administrator. You buy capacity from us at wholesale, split it into hosting accounts, and sell those to your own customers under your own brand.

We run every reseller account on high-speed NVMe cloud infrastructure with the Plesk control panel, free SSL certificates and LiteSpeed included. When your customers have a problem, that reflects on your business, so we put real support behind you: billing, technical and migration teams are available seven days a week.

South Africa is a strong market for this. Businesses are coming online every day and most of them would rather deal with a local provider who understands local payment methods, local domains and the local market than a faceless overseas host.

This guide walks you through the whole process, from choosing a package to running the business day to day.

What you need to get started

You need three things: a reseller package, a way to bill your customers, and a domain to trade under.

We handle the infrastructure. You choose how much capacity you need, set your own prices, and keep the difference between what you pay us and what you charge your customers.

The Plesk control panel

Every account you create runs on Plesk, which is the control panel your customers will log in to. It handles websites, email accounts, databases, files, SSL certificates and DNS through one interface. Your customers do not need to touch a command line, and neither do you.

Plesk includes the WP Toolkit, which installs and manages WordPress in a few clicks. Since most small business websites run on WordPress, this covers the majority of what your customers will ask for.

Billing and automation

To run a hosting business properly you need software that creates accounts automatically when someone pays, sends invoices, chases late payments and handles support tickets. WHMCS is the standard tool for this, and every one of our reseller packages includes a free WHMCS add-on.

We install and configure it for you as part of your signup, so you are not left working out how to connect billing software to a hosting server.

Choosing your reseller package

All packages include NVMe storage, the Plesk control panel, free SSL certificates, LiteSpeed and the free WHMCS add-on. The difference is capacity.

Micro Reseller — R280/month

Best for testing the water or running a handful of client sites.

  • 25GB NVMe storage
  • 25 accounts
  • 50 domains
  • Unlimited sub-domains and databases

Lite Reseller — R420/month

A sensible starting point for a new hosting business.

  • 50GB NVMe storage
  • 50 accounts
  • Unlimited domains, sub-domains and databases

Starter Reseller — R940/month

Our most popular package, and the right size for most agencies with an existing client base.

  • 80GB NVMe storage
  • 100 accounts
  • Unlimited domains, sub-domains and databases

Pro Reseller — R1,540/month

For established businesses that have outgrown a fixed account limit.

  • 120GB NVMe storage
  • Unlimited accounts, domains, sub-domains and databases

Expert Reseller — R2,460/month

Our largest package, for resellers with a big client base or heavy storage needs.

  • 240GB NVMe storage
  • Unlimited accounts, domains, sub-domains and databases

Annual billing works out cheaper than paying monthly on every package. You can also upgrade at any time as your client base grows, so start with what you need now rather than paying for capacity you are not using.

Why reselling works as a business

It is affordable to start. You buy capacity at wholesale and resell it at your own price. There is no server to buy and no infrastructure to maintain, so your only real cost is the monthly package.

Income is recurring. Hosting is billed monthly or annually and customers rarely move once their site is running. A client base built over a year keeps paying the year after.

It grows with you. When you fill your accounts, you upgrade to a bigger package. You are never rebuilding anything.

You sell under your own brand. Your customers see your business name, your prices and your support. Plesk can be white-labelled so your brand appears in the control panel too.

It pairs naturally with other work. If you already build websites, design or do marketing, hosting is the obvious add-on. You are likely already advising clients where to host, so you may as well host them yourself.

Setting up your business

Research the market

Look at what other South African hosts charge and what they include. You do not need to be the cheapest. Small businesses will pay more for someone who answers the phone and understands their setup.

Choose your business name

Your name sits at the centre of your brand: your logo, your domain, your invoices. Pick something distinct that is not easily confused with an existing host, and keep it broad enough to grow into if you later add design or marketing services.

Check the domain is available before you commit to the name.

Decide who you are selling to

Local businesses in your area? WordPress sites? A specific trade you already work with? A clear target market makes your pricing and marketing decisions much easier than trying to sell to everyone.

Set your prices

Work out your monthly package cost, divide by the number of accounts you realistically expect to sell, and price above that with room for support time. Remember that unpaid support is part of your cost.

Register the business

Decide on a structure — sole proprietor, partnership or a registered company — and register accordingly. Do a proper name search first to make sure the name is free.

Running the business day to day

Create and manage accounts

Once your reseller package is live, you create hosting accounts for your customers in Plesk. Each account gets its own login, its own resource limits and its own control panel.

Brand it as your own

White-label the control panel so your customers see your business rather than ours.

Keep an eye on resources

Watch your usage so you know when to upgrade, and catch any single customer using more than their share.

Keep customer sites secure

Security problems become your support tickets, so it is worth being proactive.

Find customers

Start with people who already know you. Existing clients, local businesses, and anyone whose website you have worked on. Offer to move their hosting across for free — we migrate sites to our platform at no charge, so this costs you nothing but makes switching easy for them.

From there, word of mouth in a local market does a lot of the work, as long as your support is good.

Ready to start

Pick the package that matches where you are now. You can upgrade whenever you outgrow it.
